Official Description:
both demos of domestic hardcore legend RADEGAST are released. It is probably no coincidence that the first Czechoslovak hardcore band was founded in Havírov. The youngest city in the republic built in a region boasting mainly hard work was actually a kind of socialist hardcore. From the beginning of the eighties, the local standard of living was marked by everything that a stay in the mining region entailed. It was then that the band was formed, which subsequently influenced many others. And it was named after a popular beer brand – Radegast. Influenced by the American hardcore school, Radegast played from the beginning mainly fast, short and loud. Only occasionally does the length of their songs swing well over a minute. The early phase of the band is captured by the first demo from 1986, still with singer Dana Kalousová. The second demo, recorded in 1989, is razor sharp and presents the band in top form. Most of the lyrics push the listener somewhere beyond hopelessness. Thanks to this, even today, the recordings feel a genuine zeitgeist. A time in which one poisoned generation of Havírov had to spend its youth. You can read about what it really was like from the group's point of view in an extensive treatise by Milan Jonšta inside the album. In addition, it is beautiful to see that Radegast was actually the same as the region from which he comes – he did not cuddle with anything! Both complete demos are now being released for the first time on vinyl and with considerable cooperation of the band. So enjoy authentic Czechoslovak hardcore!
