March 2022 New Arrivals

Hello world,

I got diagnosed with sleep apnea and for the moment, I jokingly blame everything in my life on this. Late to the gym? "Sleep apnea!" Mess up a song at band practice? "Sleep apnea." Too tired to write much here?......sleep apnea.

One bit of housekeeping:
I strongly suspect we have fixed our shitty website. If you have any technical problems getting the shopping cart to process your order, please e-mail me screenshots at [email protected] and I will take 25% off your order. But I really believe nobody will have any problems anymore.

MARCH NEW ARRIVALS

This month I want to highlight the Pestigor EP. This randomly crossed my path via the Discord and it had my eyes like the moon and my jaw on the floor. To describe it is pretty simple: Sacrilege. Pummeling thrash riffs, relentless drumming, big solos, just the right reverb on the vocals. The heavy attack of metal but the energy and attitude of punk. But I don't think there's been a record to so flawlessly craft this idea since....well, first Sacrilege LP. This record is the complete package, from art and layout to production to songwriting. Certainly this is one of the most exciting new bands in the game right now and this record receives my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION. Can't wait to hear what they do next!!

At the top of the agenda is all this hyped, in-demand stuff now up in the store. We all know you need the latest FOAD Japanese hardcore and metal reissues. Zigai discography LP sold out from the label in a relative instant, but personally I'm even more stoked on Semetary discography 2xLP, I'd never even heard of this band before and it's absolutely ripping. I know there was a big rush on Varaus EP reissue, and we got a healthy stack of the repress. And I've come around on this Internal EP, with its classic power violence style in the tradition of Crossed Out. I know everybody is so gaga about this band currently, and now I kinda am too.

We also got big stacks of all this not hyped, not as in-demand stuff that is just very hyped and in-demand by me personally LOL. I could not be more excited for Wirus LP!! This is the new band of El Banda and Utopia crew, playing this traditional melodic Polish/European punk that I cannot get enough of. Seriously, I feel like I need every last record that sounds like this. I was also surprisingly captured by the Enough LP. This is a reissue of a 90s Polish crust tape, pretty unassuming cover art but the music is properly brutal and burly in the ways only the Polish can do. One foot in Hiatus, one foot in Swedish death metal, one head properly banging along.

We got some copies of the latest Grazhdanskaya Oborona reissue LPs. It's really a great time to be into punk, to see this band's catalog get proper vinyl reissues. My enthusiasm for their piss raw, artsy, dramatic Siberian punk has not waned over the deluge of reissues over the last year or two. These were tricky to get ahold of, higher price than usual because I paid for the fastest shipping I could and crossed my fingers they'd actually arrive, and it's likely we won't restock it, so buy now or cry later.

And finally, if you have a need for speed, Marxbros 10" gets my highest recommendation. This is an offshoot band of Seein Red, and sounds pretty similar stylistically: straight-forward, thoughtful, and fast fast fast. I always feel I NEED everything this crew does and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

TAPES. We got more tapes. I know a lot of people are hyped on Barren Soil demo tape, and with good reason, this is picture-perfect brutal crust that's far beyond your average demo tape. And more than just hyped, Nabat has always been heralded as one of the greats of oi and the sort of oi that even hardcore guys like me are supposed to be into, so it's terrific to see Nabat 1982 demo tape officially reissued on its intended format.
But for me, the real tape highlights are the fuckin noise shit. Scum collection tape, 90s Polish grindcore that I had never even heard of. It's cut straight from the cloth of early Napalm Death and is surely essential for any grindfreak. Newest Nuclear Post Mortem split tape, my Brazilian dudes do it again with simply the sickest, most intense, most pummeling noisecore/grindcore madness. This is the kind of band I play when my inclined friends are over and everybody pauses and goes "yo what is this? this is sick!" Don't I fuckin know man....

For more commentary on this stuff and more, please scope our Instagram page, where we review choice new arrivals as they come. If it sounds cool when we talk about it, it'll sound even cooler when you hear it streaming on the online store, and even cooler still when you buy the record and slap it on your turntable.
