Official Description:
Ancora Tumulti Ancora Tempesta marks the continuation - both musically and thematically - of Catabasi by Fosgene. Across five new tracks, the d-beat foundation of the previous tape resurfaces, merging with harsher textures that lean toward black metal and crust. Necrosi Materica shifts between relentless d-beat sections and bursts of hardcore punk, channeling the spirit of early ’80s Italian hardcore. Its changing tempos and layered aggression set the tone for the record. Caigo, named after the term Venetian fishermen used for the thick fog that made movement impossible, follows with direct, fast-paced ferocity. Marnero, the third track, unfolds from a dual-voice chant built around one of the central themes of Ancora Tumulti Ancora Tempesta: “Carcasse di un mondo sommerso/ Fantasmi di un mondo scomparso” (Carcasses of a drowned World/ Ghosts of a Vanished World). It expands on the band’s vision of a drowned, decaying world where fragments of resistance still echo. Rivolta inorganica brings back the speed, alternating with spoken passages reminiscent of classic, but also raw and direct, anarcho-punk. Closing the tape, Perinde ac Cadaver amplifies the black metal influences, turning into a desperate hymn for human masses stripped of the symbolic world that once sustained them. If Catabasi depicted the beginning of a descent into a hopeless abyss, Ancora Tumulti Ancora Tempesta reveals the first tremors of what follows: movements, upheavals, and signs that not everything has been annihilated. Whether it’s the rediscovery of the end’s beginning (Caigo), the search for new horizons of struggle (Marnero), the void left by the death of ancient deities (Perinde ac cadaver), or the ways in which ecosystems react and create in response to what has been destroyed (Necrosi materica, Rivolta inorganica), this second chapter follows the persistence of life amid collapse.
