Driving around Lucena City blasting Xmal Deutschland, Kirk explained to me that Philippines simply didn't have a history of making the style of post-punk and goth he enjoyed. Which makes sense to me, tough to make dark and cold music in one of the sunniest and warmest places in the world. But, this is punk, we should be the change we want to see, so of course Kirk gathered a team of hardcore veterans soon after and dove right in to making the Philippines' leading post-punk/goth band.
Following up their 2022 demo, Crepuscular Dawn pull together a vinyl debut. Ten tracks of luscious guitars playing sensitive and contemplative melodies to drums that straddle the line between death rocking and goth grooving, with Kirk's confident bass singing (no Count Chocula dramatics here!) and legendary dance moves as the icing on the cake. Rather than a cold synth-driven spook, Crepuscular Dawn approach gothy post-punk with a warm sense of rocking and emotion. They maintain an eye towards "the song", bringing in acoustic guitar, subtle synths, whatever is required.
