APRIL NEW ARRIVALS
This month we got a whole lot of CDs from all over the world, perfect for summertime road trips. Whether you want some classics like Doom and Anti-Cimex reissued on CD, or something fresh like Eyescream collection CD and Boryoku Sohchi CD, we got it. I expect a lot of people will be interested in Save the Voice 2 comp 2xCD, with its unreleased tracks by bands like Swankys, Execute, Rocky and the Sweden. For me, I am most thrilled by Rebel Riot CD, their latest full-length album of political punk from the school of Conflict and Aus Rotten. I thought maybe this was going to get a vinyl version but maybe not? So this CD may be your big chance on this one.
This month we also got a plethora of d-beat from around the world. I couldn't be more thrilled about the reissue of one of my top favorite Swedish punk records, Uncurbed - Keeps the Banner High LP reissue. I absolutely adore their outlaw party punx style and seeing them on their east coast tour back when I was in high school is a very fond memory. I'm also super into new Bombardement LP, check the Instagram for my thoughts on that. And of course new Disease LP is on my radar, after their monstrous album from a few years back.
If you got a need for speed, I was impressed by the debut Nak'ay LP, a well-executed grind attack along the same lines as Internal Rot and The Kill. And you already know you need Gasp demo LP. I was most happy to see one of my favorite humans back in action on Anti-Itch Cream lathe, and of course Agathocles/DTAP split tape ranks high for me, two of my favorites! Look for more from each of these bands soon!
We got some hot shit from South America. I expect we all know about Inyeccion LP already, this was one of my most anticipated releases of the year. But I think one of my other most anticipated releases, Skarnio/Forca Macabra split 7", is a bit less on the radar. A double-dose of classic Brazilian style hardcore, from the teacher and from the student. Skarnio are one of Brazil's best kept hardcore secrets, get hip to them now and you'll be ready for the upcoming LP. And, fuck, Gx3 10", this wasn't even on my radar either! A couple tracks from their 1990 cassette. Classic Peruvian hardcore.
And finally, we got the usual spread of interesting hardcore from around the world. Lots of discussion of Agoni collection LP and Jalang LP, and my bandmate was jumping for joy for Extinct Government/Criminal State split 12", their first new release in 5 years. I was most impressed by Peace Decay LP, which is the exact kind of hardcore that I enjoy most. Well-written and powerful songs played with conviction and resolve, can't ask for more than that.
For more commentary on this stuff and more, please scope our Instagram page, where we review choice new arrivals as they come. If it sounds cool when we talk about it, it'll sound even cooler when you hear it streaming on the online store, and even cooler still when you buy the record and slap it on your turntable.
